Shopify checkout says no shipping rates are available: how to fix it
Why a shopper reaches the delivery step and sees no shipping options, and the four places in Shopify settings that cause it.
What the shopper sees
The shopper enters their address, reaches the delivery step, and Shopify tells them there are no shipping rates for it. There is no way past that step, so the order cannot be placed. Shopify does not notify you when this happens, so a store can lose these orders for weeks without anyone noticing.
Where to look, in order
- Open Settings, then Shipping and delivery, and check that the shopper's country or region is inside a shipping zone. A country missing from every zone has no rates at all.
- In the same zone, check it has at least one rate. A zone with no rates behaves exactly like a missing zone.
- Check rate conditions. A rate limited by order weight or price, for example 0 to 5 kg, leaves any cart outside that range with nothing to choose. Add a rate that covers the rest of the range.
- Check shipping profiles. A product in a custom shipping profile only ships to the zones in that profile. If one item in the cart is in a profile that does not cover the address, the whole checkout has no rate.
How to test the fix
Add the same products to a cart on your own storefront, go to checkout and enter an address in the country that failed. If a rate appears at the delivery step, the gap is closed.

JourneyLens records when visitors hit shipping errors in checkout, counts how many left and how many found a way to buy anyway, and shows the order value that was in those checkouts. You find out the day it starts, not when you notice sales are down.
